The University of Huddersfield’s Queensgate Campus, home to over 24,000 students, engaged GME to carry out a wide-ranging three-month redecoration scheme. The project included student blocks, libraries, reception areas, staircases, and a listed heritage building.
The aim was to deliver practical yet inspiring spaces for students and staff while preserving the character of heritage areas. The university required a contractor who could deliver high-quality finishes without disrupting the academic calendar.

We worked closely with university stakeholders to sequence works around student occupancy and operational priorities. For specialist areas, such as projector spaces, we used materials like Goo Paint to create smart learning environments.
The heritage building was transformed using feature walls and modern industrial aesthetics, achieved by spraying ceilings with dark concrete finishes. Throughout, safety, coordination, and stakeholder communication were key.
All works were completed on schedule with minimal disruption to campus activity. Student and staff spaces were reinvigorated, while the updated heritage building became a standout asset of the campus.
