Doncaster Royal Infirmary is a large NHS district general hospital, treating hundreds of thousands of patients annually. GME was contracted to complete a comprehensive redecoration programme across various departments, including the children’s ward, waiting rooms, doctors' surgeries, corridors, refectories, and staff zones.
The client’s aim was to enhance the hospital’s interior environments to ensure cleanliness, improve patient wellbeing—particularly for children—and maintain operational functionality with minimal disruption.

GME operated with a firm focus on safety, cleanliness, and minimal disruption to hospital operations. We used antibacterial paints in clinical and slush rooms and coordinated works in a way that respected the day-to-day activities of the hospital.
In the children’s ward, we introduced playful graphic strips and vibrant wallpaper to create more engaging and reassuring spaces for young patients. All work was sequenced to meet NHS compliance while ensuring consistent progress.
The project was completed successfully within the 8-week timeline. Hospital spaces were transformed into clean, vibrant environments, improving comfort for both staff and patients. Special touches in the children’s ward helped ease anxiety and fostered a more positive experience.
