Finishing in time for Christmas

30th October 2017

In the lead up to Christmas, at GME, like many other businesses, we will be very busy trying to get things completed in time for the festive season. However, like most companies, there will inevitably be trials and tribulations along the way which could lead to delays.

Below, our team look at a few of the things you can do to try and make sure your projects get completed in time.

Plan ahead

We know this sounds like an obvious one, but planning ahead, especially in busy periods, is vital. Depending on the project you have and the work it involves, you may need to think a long way in advance to order in items. When working to tight schedules, a late delivery or something overrunning by a few days can push the whole project back.

Be flexible

At the same time as planning ahead, flexibility is also important. Every project will have some sort of obstacle, so make sure if required you can work around things and adapt to any change in plans. For example, if walls are to be painted in multiple rooms, but a carpet is due to be laid in one and then overruns, see if you can paint the other rooms in that allotted time. This keeps the project moving forward and on track for the end date.

Prioritise

Whilst this might not be that easy, if your priority is to make sure your space is usable in the new year, some of the finer details could be left until January, which could include some decorations. By prioritising the things that really matter within the project, you can get a space that is usable in time for when you need it, even if it is not 100% complete.
